pfs is not the creator of the Client’s scientific material and will not review for scientific or other content any Image Material or other material sent by the Client. pfs is not responsible for any material sent to pfs outside the scope of Service Contracts agreed between the Client and pfs. As a provider of image editing services alone, pfs is not in any way responsible and is not liable for (a) acceptance of the Client’s article by the target Journal or compliance with respective deadlines for submission; (b) scientific content or merit of the Image Material, of the Client’s article or of any other work of the Client; or (c) compliance of the Client or of any Image Material with scientific, ethical or legal standards or requirements in any country.

2. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

These Terms and any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms and our Services shall be subject to German law excluding UN law on the sale of goods (CISG).
Exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms and our Services shall be Heidelberg, Germany.

3. Changes to these Terms; Severability

The Terms valid at the time of the order for specific Services shall apply to the corresponding order and the corresponding Services. pfs reserves the right to change these Terms at any time. Such changes shall not have retrospective effect and shall apply exclusively to future orders.

If a provision in these Terms is or becomes wholly or partially void, ineffective, impracticable or unenforceable, the effectiveness and the enforceability of the other provisions of these Terms shall not be affected.

4. Our Guarantee

pfs guarantee that every formatted or newly prepared illustration, table, graph, or other figure file will be produced precisely in accordance with the requirements of the target journal. If a client believes the files they have received from pfs contain errors or faults, they should inform pfs immediately following receipt of the respective image material and supply any material supporting their claims for corrections. We will continue to work with the client until the material meets their expectations.

5. Copyright

Permission for use of Figure 3 (samples 1 and 2) and Figure 14 on the pfs website has been kindly provided by SpringerNature and the Copyright Clearance Center. (under licenses # 413762069536914 and # 4137610526545).
Permission for use of Figures 5, 8, and 12 on the pfs website has also been kindly provided by SpringerNature and the Copyright Clearance Center.

The client retains copyright in any basic material they create and provide to pfs. The client also owns the copyright in all illustrations produced for them by pfs, after full payment. If pfs creates or provides the basic material to produce the illustration, the client may use the final illustration for the stipulated purpose, but pfs remains the copyright holder. If the client would like to own the copyright in such illustrations, an additional payment of 50–100 € will be required, depending on the time and costs incurred by pfs.

6. Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.
